About Vee Press

Vee Press is the digital publishing division of Vibal Foundation. Our books come in multiple electronic formats and can be read on different e-reading devices such as Sony E-Reader, Amazon Kindle, BlackBerry, Nook, iPhones, PCs, Macs, and all tablet computers including the Apple iPad.

We publish books on Philippine history, art, culture, media, and literature. Vee Press electronic editions are enhanced with hyperlinks to web resources, introductory essays and annotations, and we try to make them interactive where possible in ways that cannot be done in print. Electronic editions of print books are also packaged differently, with new cover designs and descriptive copy.

Our books are available in Apple iBookstore, Amazon Kindle Store and other e-book retailers. You can also order print editions of our books by sending an email to books@vibalfoundation.org.

Filipiniana Clasicá Digital

This series aims to uphold the continuity available, either in print or electronic editions. Selected titles will be published in both formats.

Academica Filipina/Academica Filipina Plus

This interdisciplinary series pushes the boundaries of scholarly publishing with smart, literate and thought-provoking works exploring the Philippine past, present and future. While Academica Filipina titles are purely textual in nature, Academica Filipina Plus is a product line of illustrated, academic and trade publishers to books.

Arte Filipino

Pairing innovative scholarship with brilliantly reproduced visuals, these artbooks aim to elevate Philippine artistic history and culture and bring art into broader public view. Electronic editions will focus on publishing stand-alone scholarly monographs on Philippine artists, art history, and art criticism.

Philippine Art Now

Contemporary artists in a broad range of media are showcased in this series, which seeks to heighten appreciation of Philippine art in a postmodern and globalized world.

Filnet

Books published under the Filnet imprint will be based on Filipiniana.net collections and will focus on the aggregation of primary sources, bundled as readers, and introduced by extensive executive summaries that are hyperlinked to encyclopedic articles in WikiPilipinas.

POC

The Philippine Online Chronicles will publish titles tied with the POC web channels, with special focus on politics, lifestyle, travel, media studies, and arts and culture. POC will also be available in a weekly magazine format which can also be downloaded as e-book.

WikiPilipinas

WikiPilipinas will publish a wide range of popular how-to guides and top 100 lists.

Under the Vee Press imprint, we will also publish new works of fiction, biography, and narrative non-fiction.

What does Vee Press publish? In what languages?: We publish fiction, non-fiction, and academic works in Filipino and English. We will also consider publications in other Philippine languages.
What is the difference between the electronic and print editions of a book published by Vee Press?: We enhance our e-books with hyperlinks, introductory essays and annotations and we try to make them interactive where possible, in ways that cannot be done in print. Electronic editions will also be packaged differently, with a different cover design and descriptive copy.
Where are Vee Press books available?: Vee Press books are available in Apple iBookstore and Amazon Kindle Store where we maintain publisher accounts. Our books will also be available in other e-book retailers such as Books on Board and Fictionwise. We will make all titles available in as many digital formats as commercially viable. formatting and distribution to the vendors is the responsibility of Vee Press and will be at Vee Press’ expense.
How can I read Vee Press books?: You can read our books on iPad, Kindle, Sony Reader and other portable reading devices — including mobile phones — that support the e-Pub or Mobipocket formats Our e-books could also be read on your Mac or PC by downloading and installing Adobe Digital Editions, Kindle for PC or Mac and Calibre.
How much do Vee Press books sell?: They range between $1.99 to $9.99.
Can I submit my manuscript to Vee Press for publication?: Yes. Please send your manuscripts to books@vibalfoundation.org. Please note that we only accept completed manuscripts.
Will Vee Press publish an already published book in print?: Yes, but we will have to acquire digital distribution rights from your publisher. Please consult your publishing contract, too. If your contract only contains provisions for print rights, then you may have your manuscript published by Vee Press without the need to ask your publisher about digital rights. We do advise you to refer such decisions to your print publisher as well.
What are the terms of Vee Press publishing contracts?: We offer royalty to authors, and where it applies, other publishers. We ask for exclusive worldwide rights for all digital formats and, again, in certain cases, rights for traditional print or Print-on-Demand and the right of first refusal on sequel or additional works. Otherwise, authors are not obligated to submit any future work to Vee Press.
As author, do I retain copyright over my work published by Vee Press?: Yes, unless the work is commissioned by us.
Will my books be edited?: Yes. E-books published by Vee Press will undertake the same interactive publishing and production process that we apply in our print books. Vee Press will assign (at its expense) a qualified editor to work with you to assist it in developing your manuscript to ensure quality. Vee Press will consult with you regarding title, cover art and descriptive copy and will assign (at our expense) artist(s) and designer(s) to develop cover and cover copy as well as any supplemental marketing materials. Vee Press retains final approval of title, final manuscript, cover art, cover copy and, marketing materials.
Will sale of my print books be compromised by the publication of an electronic edition?: In our belief, e-books have a different market and serve a different audience from print. E-books are purposed for convenience and easy storage and retrieval.
How can I make sure that the electronic editions of my books are protected and not pirated on the internet?: Books loaded to the e-book retailers are protected by digital rights management systems. Books purchased for a reader are only loaded to that device. They cannot be shared or transferred via email or USB.
I am an author/publisher who wishes to publish my books under my own imprint. Can I commission Vee Press to produce and distribute electronic editions of my titles?: Yes, we offer editorial, conversion and distribution services.
