TOPIC: Information Literacy and Digital Literacy: Life long Learning Initiatives with Libraries in the Frontline

LECTURE SUMMARY: In the first day of its 2008 Summer Conference, PAARL invited Ms. Fe Angela Verzosa to discuss a topic entitled “Information Literacy and Digital Literacy: Life-long Learning Initiatives with Libraries in the Frontline” In its aim of equipping 21^st century Philippine librarians, new methods and avenues of librarianship must be developed. Ms. Verzosa claimed that digital and information literacy together with Library and Web 2.0 are significant factors in developing and improving Philippine librarianship. She believed that digital and information literacy have conducive factors that any librarian must take advantage of. The easy access to new mediums of communication and effortless management, exchange, and transfer of any information will enable librarians, libraries, and its users to communicate both ways.

Nakita ko doon si Efren Abueg, Palanca Awardee for Literature, si Virgilio Almario, Pambansang Alagad Sa Sining, Zeus Salazar, Teo Antonio ng UMPIL at mga kinatawan ng iba’t ibang departamento ng Filipino ng UP, PNU, Ateneo de Manila University at St. Poveda College.
