How time flies, it seem as though it was only yesterday when giant billboards were seen flying and trees being uprooted. Flash floods, landslides and power outages were just some of the scenarios that took place in just one day, on that fateful day of September 28, 2007. Yes, I am talking about the typhoon Milenyo, the strongest typhoon to hit Metro Manila directly in 11 years.
However, amidst the strong winds and rain, another huge portal also took not only Manila, but the whole Philippines, by storm. Filipiniana.net, the premiere Philippine Digital Library and Online Research Portal was conceived. Milenyo did not hinder Filnet staff to bring to the world, especially to Filipino enthusiasts the world’s largest repository of knowledge on Philippine Studies. There was even a celebration that was held after the version 1.0 of the site was up.
